What's the diff?

Web1
The "Read-only" Web
The first iteration of the web, commonly referred to as the “read-only" web, was characterized by static websites that displayed information. There was little or no interaction or user-generated content. Content was owned by a centralized (single) organization.

Web2
The "Read + Write" Web
This is the web that we are familiar with today. From its beginnings in the '90s, the “read and write" web was characterized by user-generated content and increased interaction. This led to the creation of blogs and social media platforms, as well as sites like LinkedIn and YouTube. Web2 places more emphasis on user experience and interoperability. The content is still owned by centralized organizations.

Web3
The "Read+Write+Own" Web
The next iteration of the web is being ushered in right now. It leverages blockchain technology, open-source applications, and the decentralization of data and information. Web3 aims to remove control of the web from monopolistic tech companies, and return ownership of data and content to its users. It's referred to as the “read-write-own" web. The blockchain is a network of servers that stores data in a decentralized and therefore more secure manner. This gives more power back to the users and creates a whole new realm of possibilities.
